What are Musings?

They are free verse P.O.E.M.S. -
Poems and Prayers
Observations and Opinions,
Essays and Experiences,
Musings and Memories,
Stories and Sermons.

An example from the book -
Ivan Seidenberg, CEO of Verizon
writes in the Foreword to
"Leadership, Ethics, Quality -
One Hundred and Six Musings
                  for
Decision Makers and Action Takers"

" In an age when the image of business
people sometimes seems tarnished
beyond repair, these musings paint a
different picture of life spent in commerce -
honorable, useful, hardworking, even
brave.  I had the great privilege of learning
about leadership from Jim Hennessy's
example as his colleague. Thanks to this
book, I still am."
The book has six sections:
Leadership with 30 musings, Ethics with 21,
Quality with 9, Networks with 19, Government with
17 and The Big Picture with 10 musings.

"Leadership, Ethics, Quality -
One Hundred and Six Musings
for
Decision Makers and Action Takers"

by James Ernest Hennessy
                      Greatness
                        -----

Great men and women accomplish great
things
for their organizations, communities,
countries
and sometimes even for the world.

And yet,
those who have acted unethically, done
wrong,
made mistakes, sinned against God,
or hurt their fellow human beings at one
time or another
include:
all kings, presidents, elected and
appointed officials,
all merchants, traders, business people,
all doctors, ministers, rabbis, imams,
all monks, brothers, nuns,
all warriors, all pacifists,
all saints, all of us.

It is very easy to be critical of
shortcomings;
it is harder to forgive human failings.

But a strong majority of great leaders
who have accomplished great things
- considering their lives in total -
have been more virtuous than vile,
done more good than harm,
brought more joy than sorrow.

Let us celebrate their best.
